Forage Analysis

Forage is the term for grass and preserved herbage used as animal feed, including hay, haylage, silage, alfalfa and chopped straw. Its nutritional value varies greatly depending on a number of factors, including time of year it was cut, the amount of sun and rain it received while growing, and the soil in which it grew. A laboratory analysis will show the mineral status, levels of sugar and starch, and crude fibre value, enabling the farmer to feed animals with greater accuracy.
